140 Battersea High Street · SW11
A family restaurant with deep roots in South West London — and a story that started long before Battersea High Street.
Magan began in 2010 as Safari Restaurant, a modest but beloved spot just a stone's throw from where we are today. From those early days, we built something that went beyond food — a gathering place for the Somali community in Battersea, a taste of home for those far from it, and an introduction to East African culture for everyone else.
Over the years we grew, evolved, and eventually moved to 140 Battersea High Street — still the same family, still the same heart, now with a kitchen and a vision worthy of everything we've learned along the way.
We are proudly, unapologetically Somali. The music, the food, the warmth — it all comes from the same place. Come and feel it for yourself.
A family-run Somali kitchen opens its doors in Battersea — the beginning of something special.
Expanded, evolved, and moved around the corner. The same family. A new chapter.
All platters served with your choice of bread and a fresh seasonal salad. Dine-in only.

From the 70s Somali music that fills the room to the photographs on the walls — Magan is a living, breathing celebration of Somali culture in South West London. Fifteen years in this community means we're not just a restaurant. We're part of the neighbourhood.
Tea and conversation — the classical Somali café experience. Shaax iyo Sheeko is the tradition of gathering over a cup, talking freely, and letting time slow down. At Magan it is not a concept. It is simply what happens here, as it always has.
Every ingredient that reaches your plate has been chosen with care. We do not compromise on quality — from the spices in our Xawashi to the coffee in your cup. A crafted experience, for everyone who finds themselves here.
